HSMWorks Cutter Compensation

Cutter Diameter Compensation (CDC) is a key to holding extremely tight tolerances. CNC provides a way for toolpaths to be adjusted to compensate for tool wear and deflection. We get a lot of questions from those new to CNC about how to use compensation. Part of whay makes it so confusing is there are so many options: In Computer, In Control, Wear, Inverse Wear and Off.

Where to build? FirstBuild!

FirstBuild is an online and physical community dedicated to designing, engineering, building and selling the next generation of home appliances. Think of it like TechShop with engineers on staff. This is very exciting for my home town of Louisville. It is a successful cooperation of G.E., University of Louisville and Local Motors. We here at NexGenCAM are glad HSMWorks can be a part of it.

HSMWorks and Windows 10

Before upgrading your Windows operating system to Windows 10, it is crucial that you first de-activate your HSMWorks software. If you do not, you will be unable to activate your software after the upgrade, even if a reseller resets your license. As of August 14, development has been working on a release to fix this issue, but for now there is a fairly simple work-around to prevent any problems:

Step 1: De-activate your license
Step 2: Run clean_activation.bat, which is installed in the main HSM directory
Step 3: Contact your reseller and request a license reset
Step 4: Once Windows 10 is up and running, re-install HSMWorks and reactivate it with the reset license.
